It is at the end of the famous "Wainwrights Coast to coast walk" which starts 192 miles away at St.Bees in the Lake District.
Surrounded by moorland and fields on three sides and the sea on the other. Over the centuries ´Bay´ has seen many a shipwreck in the wild seas and smugglers hurrying between houses at the dead of night.
There are many walks and outstanding views to enjoy, and rockpools for the younger ones to explore, and with much of the coastline now managed and owned by the National Trust and being within the North Yorkshire Moors National Park, it is one of the most beautiful areas of England.
Of course when you need to rest there are also several pubs and restaurants serving everything from snacks to full meals, and if you want to stay then the locality offers everything from camp-sites though B&B´s and holiday cottages to Hotel accommodation.
